App Introduction

SumGrid is a beautifully designed app featuring the classic Magic Square puzzle. A magic square is an ancient mathematical puzzle where numbers are arranged so that all rows, columns, and diagonals sum to the same value. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Magic Square?
A magic square is a grid of numbers arranged so that every row, column, and diagonal adds up to the same sum. For example, in a 3x3 magic square, all lines sum to 15. This mathematical puzzle has thousands of years of history and helps develop logical thinking and mathematical intuition.
How do I play the game?
1. On the start screen, select your desired grid size (3x3, 4x4, or 5x5) and difficulty level (Easy, Medium, or Hard).
2. Fill in the empty cells with numbers so that all rows, columns, and diagonals have the same sum.
3. Use the number pad to input numbers by first tapping on an empty cell and then selecting a number.
4. Initially filled cells cannot be modified, but you can change your own inputs by tapping them again.
5. The game is complete when all cells are correctly filled according to the magic square rules.
How do I use hints?
Tap the "Hint" button at the bottom of the game screen to reveal the correct number for one of the empty cells. Note that each hint adds a 10-second penalty to your game time. Use hints wisely when you're stuck on a particularly challenging puzzle.
Why are some numbers displayed in red?
Numbers appear in red when they are duplicated within the grid. According to magic square rules, each number should appear only once in the grid. Try replacing the duplicated numbers with different values.
Is my game progress saved?
Yes, the game automatically saves your current progress. If you close the app and reopen it later, you can continue from where you left off. However, if you tap the "Reset" button or return to the main screen via the "Home" button, your current game progress will be lost.
How do I switch between portrait and landscape modes?
SumGrid automatically detects your device orientation and supports both portrait and landscape modes. Simply rotate your device, and the screen layout will automatically optimize for the current orientation.
